George Washington Carver

George Washington Carver was born in 1864, in Diamond Grove, Missouri, on Moses Carver’s farm. George W. Carver and his mother were captured by Confederate soldiers! Thankfully Moses found George, but his mother was never found. He left to pursue his education at age twelve since there were no schools available for blacks. He then moved to Newton County, in southwest Missouri. Later, he attended college at Iowa Agricultural College, where he gained much of his wisdom of nature. As an agricultural chemist, he discovered three-hundred different uses of peanuts, and found hundreds of different uses for soybeans. Remarkably, he made improvements on grease, bleach, buttermilk, instant coffee, and ink! What an incredible scientist. Wouldn’t you have wanted to see his laboratory? Wow!

A Mini Biography of Elizabeth George Speare

Elizabeth George Speare played a wonderful role in being a wonderful American author. Elizabeth was born on November 21, 1908, in Melrose, Massachusetts, and had a happy childhood with wonderful parents, and extended family. Elizabeth learned of her writing talent at age eight and began writing stories in high school. After she finished her Bachelor of Arts degree at Smith College, in 1930, she got her master’s degree in English from Boston University, and she taught at several different private high schools in Massachusetts from 1932 to 1936, and she met her future husband Alden Speare. They had two children, named Alden Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Carey. Elizabeth George Speare wrote several books that I love to read. I have not read one, but I highly recommend them all. She wrote Calico Captive, The Witch of Blackbird Pond, The Bronze Bow, and The Sign of the Beaver. She died of aortic aneurysm on November 15, 1994.

A Beautiful Place Called Glacier National Park

If you are looking at traveling to Montana’s Glacier National Park, I highly recommend doing so! Here are some reasons why you should vacation there. Montana is a beautiful place with icy glaciers, lovely flowers, wild birds, colorful fish, and amazing animals. Montana also has very pretty scenery which you can view on some of the many trails that you can hike. My last reason to visit is because of the excellent care that the rangers in charge of Glacier National Park’s welfare have taken in insuring a no- littering policy. I hope that you will get to see Glacier National Park someday, and that you will enjoy your trip as much as I did mine!

A Difficulty in Keeping Horses

Have you ever ridden a graceful animal, such as a horse? They are beautiful creatures and a lot of girls have wanted their own. But I have done some of the chores in keeping a horse and I cannot imagine doing all of the work each day to keep one horse. First, you have to ride the horse every day, to give it exercise, next you have to clean all its riding etc. things. Then, you have to clean out its stable, and then you have to feed it several times a day. I am sure there are many other things you have to do to keep a horse, and I think that it would be very hard to keep one. I have always wanted a horse though.

Things My Mother Likes About Parenting

My mother is a wonderful mother. She has a few things that she shared with me about what she likes about parenting. At dinner, my mother usually talks about what we did today, and she just likes talking to us about things. She also likes parenting when she gets to plan adventures with us. The last thing that she likes about parenting is to go places with us or try new things with us. I am so thankful for my mother. I love her a lot!

Blessing

Hello! My name is Elizabeth, and I am a very blessed person. I have a few reasons why I am blessed. One reason that I am blessed is that I have Jesus in my heart. Having Him in my heart is the best and most joyful feeling. Another reason that I feel blessed is that I love to take care of animals. I have been interested in animals ever since I was little. The last reason I feel blessed is that God has given me the ability to read and enjoy books. I hope you will now think of all the things with which you are blessed!

"The Yearling"

Dear Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings,

My name is Elizabeth and I attend Veritas Classical Schools in South Carolina. My teacher Mrs. Thompson, has assigned me to read "The Yearling". I want to thank you for writing this, because I really enjoyed it! The part that I really enjoyed was that Jody had such a good relationship with Penny, because I also had a wonderful relationship with my father too. I miss him now, since he died, but it reminded me of the relationship, I had once with my dad. The only thing I needed to ask you about the book, was, what did the ending mean? Did Jody die, or was Flag with Fodderwing? Thank you for making my English homework extra wonderful!!! I hope to meet you soon!

Sincerely

Elizabeth in South Carolina

Some Reasons to Write Well

Who would like to learn how to write beautifully? You might be perfectly surprised to know there are important reasons to write well. First, you will be able to explain your ideas clearly. Also, if you have creative ideas, you can write about them and make the reader very intrigued because of your ideas. Wouldn't it be fascinating if you could have the same idea as somebody else? I think you could actually be a marvellous writer which would be an awesome goal to achieve. -Elizabeth, South Carolina

I Timothy 4:12

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
