Bob and the Army of Giant Worms

There once was a curious chick named Bob . He was in his pen where he

was practicing flying. Suddenly, he flew out of the pen and landed by a garden

hose which he thought was a yummy worm. He started pecking at it.

Bob pecked too hard and the worm sprang a leak! Because water sprayed,

he was surprised. Worms are not supposed to have water exploding from them!

He thought that worm was about to attack him !

An army of giant worms was probably going to come up out of the ground

and destroy him! He ran as fast as a lightning bolt back to the pen. Bob was glad

he practiced flying! -Mary, Michigan

"The Last Battle"

Have you ever read the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis? I have and my favorite of these seven books is called The Last Battle. I will try to tell you why it is my favorite book without spoiling it for you. The first reason it is my favorite is because all (but one) of the people who ever entered Narnia return! Secondly, Aslan defeats the evil in Narnia for good. The old Narnia which Aslan once created is now destroyed. But Aslan now creates a much better place than old Narnia. Now we have reached my third reason of why The Last Battle is my favorite book. It is my favorite book because of the way it ends. Evil is defeated forever. There is happiness and a new Narnia! I think that C.S. Lewis did a fantastic job on writing this book. I hope you will read it and enjoy it as much as I did!

Tom the dog Learns a Lesson

Once upon a time, there lived a dog whose name was Tom. Tom was a good dog most of the time. You see, Tom liked to eat his owner’s food. One day Tom was bored of his kibble. He wanted something else to eat. So he decided to eat the sandwich that was sitting on the table. His owner had gone to work, forgetting to put it away. So Tom happily walked up to the table, set his front paws on top of the table, stretched out his neck and clamped his teeth on the roast beef sandwich. Tom devoured the food. When Tom’s owner came home he said, “Hum, that’s funny, I thought I put away the sandwich. And now I can’t find it! Oh, well.” The next morning, Tom felt sick. Very sick. Was it the sandwich that he ate? It sure seemed like it. Tom was sorry that he ate the sandwich. Wouldn’t it just be better for him to eat his dog food? From then on, Tom never ate people food again and he was always satisfied with his kibble.

Earn Your Treats

A rich farmer, coming back from a long journey, arrived back at his home and began unloading his baggage. His favorite donkey, which had securely carried him throughout his whole trip, was given a rinse off, and put into his stall afterwards. The farmer was grateful for his donkey and wanted to reward him. On his trip, the farmer purchased special donkey treats, which were rare and was anxious to see if his donkey liked them. Donkeys, he heard, liked these treats a lot, and when he gave them to his donkey, the donkey apparently enjoyed them too. But when the farmer’s lapdog saw this, the lapdog thought that he deserved a treat also. The farmer gave the lapdog one, but he didn’t seem to enjoy it as much. Sadly enough, the treat didn’t taste as good to the dog because he didn’t earn it like the donkey did. Earning the treat would have made the dog enjoy it just as much as the donkey did.

The Foolish Gosling

Once upon a time there was a gosling named Susy. One day Mother Goose had told Susy to clean her nest. Then Lucky ducky came up and loudly said that there was a storm last night and the lake was huge! Speedily, they both dashed to the lake. when she got home, mother Goose was sitting there. Tapping her foot, she asked, "Is your nest clean?" (already knowing that it wasn't). Mother, not waiting for a reply, said, "You will have to sleep with your brother Bobby"(who had a groaning cold). The next day she had to clean her nest. she worked. she sweated. She coughed. After that she had to stay in her clean bed while she recovered, because she now had a cold. Susy could not play with Lucky the next day. Poor Susy! -Hannah, Michigan
